CMAP Televises First Annual
Membership Recognition Awards
Nine months
after launching their four channels, the local community TV
station Community Media Access Partnership is honoring its
membership with a televised awards ceremony from the studios
they share with Gavilan College. The ceremony is immediately
following the organization’s Annual Meeting, where newly
elected board members will be seated.
CMAP’s
200 + members have been actively producing programs, and volunteering
as the camera crews on everything from the station’s
Garlic Festival coverage, to the one-on-one talk show In Focus,
to the rededication of Hollister’s Veterans’ Building.
“Our membership is our lifeblood,” says CMAP’s
Executive Director Suzanne St. John. “We can’t
have local programming without volunteers getting trained
at CMAP, and taking the camera into their own hands.”
The awards
ceremony will recognize active volunteers and producers for
their contributions, and will pay special tribute to the Volunteer
of the Year and Producer of the Year. The telecast will also
include highlights from CMAP’s programming over the
last year.
Cable
subscribers in Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista can
join in the celebration by tuning in to Public Access Channel
20 on Thursday, October 16, 7:30– 8:30pm. All CMAP members
are invited to attend the annual meeting at 6pm, and join
in the studio festivities immediately following.
