Job Description: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator will develop and maintain new and existing class curriculum, implement educational programs and build collaborative partnerships with the education community in Hollister, San Juan Bautista and Gilroy.

The Education Coordinator provides video production training, facilitation, community relations. The Coordinator organizes the registration, staffing, training, pre and post production work, and oversees all participant involvement in CMAP's daily after-school programs, community education programs, special grant-funded programs, youth workshops and summer camps.

The Education Coordinator also provides membership, operational and production support for CMAP. The Education Coordinator interacts directly with volunteers, organization members, community groups, and the larger education community to further the mission and vision of CMAP, by providing positive interactions, community outreach, training, and by working directly on video, audio and web productions.

The Education Coordinator performs an integral role at CMAP by bridging the needs of educational community with the training, operational and production capabilities of CMAP. TYPICAL DUTIES (may include, but are not limited to, the following):

° The Education Coordinator develops and implements CMAP's curriculum, workshops and orientations in a variety of formats to encourage the development of creative community programming, working with other staff as appropriate; coordinates the development of all CMAP K-12 curriculum, summer camp program development, and organizes the logistics, registration system, and daily schedule of educational programs. This will include after-school programs with youth age 10-18, summer camps, digital media programs, and other programs serving at-risk or neighborhood youth age 10-25.

° The Education Coordinator provides support and technical training to the educational community in the operation of all CMAP video equipment.

° Maintains communicative, professional relationships with personnel at government and school facilities to assure accurate scheduling, adequate staff assistance for trainings, and adheres to safety regulations and government and school requirements and rules.

° In coordination with productions and membership staff, the Education Coordinator conducts a variety of production and post-production activities including equipment reservation, scheduling, organizing, budgeting, engineering, shooting, lighting, editing, and graphics in the field and studio for all educational programs.

° Facilitates the CMAP equipment certification process with educational users, ensuring that equipment users are appropriately educated and trained; follows up with K-12 educational members on project proposals to assure timely response to project deadlines.

° Oversees the engineering of production equipment during multi-camera productions in the studio and in the field, including matching and adjustment of cameras, and proper set-up all of all equipment.

° Assists volunteers, video users, and community producers during lab time, in the studio, on field productions, and in the classroom.

° May assist other CMAP staff as needed.

° Conducts assigned CMAP productions or other outreach projects as assigned by the Executive Director

° Assists with delivery of content via broadcast and the Internet.

° Troubleshoots equipment failures and documents problems with equipment engineering and operation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of:

° Video production and digital storytelling instruction in workshop format, or by directly mentoring new learners.

° Excellent written and verbal communication skills

° Coaching, teaching or mentoring experience.

° Ability to teach a variety of age groups with enthusiasm, engagement and follow a curriculum or lesson plan

° Mac or PC computer experience with graphics and video editing.

° Computer operations including web browsing, database systems, email, web-based calendars and groupware applications, word processing and database maintenance.

° Operational aspects of digital video and audio production and post-production, including cameras, camera stabilization, microphones, lighting equipment, and cabling.

Demonstrated Ability to:
° Transfer knowledge of highly complex equipment and production
techniques to community users of various ages and levels of expertise.

° Shoot and edit video productions.

° Lift up to 50 lbs.

° Work creatively, flexibly and collaboratively in a volunteer and team environment, operating autonomously under minimal supervision, and to both provide and accept direction, supervision, and guidance when appropriate.

° Convey a warm and welcoming public manner.

° Encourage others; compassionately support a wide range of users and volunteer knowledge and skill sets.

° Provide basic troubleshooting for lab of video production software and Apple computers.

Additional Requirements:

° Must be available for work evenings and weekends

° Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, have a safe driving record, and maintain California minimum required automobile insurance.

° Must be able to pass background checks for eligibility to work in area schools

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the skill, knowledge, and abilities required is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these requirements would be:

° A BA degree in television production or a related field, or one year of full-time video production experience, or one year of teaching experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

° Ability to communicate orally in Spanish.

° Non-profit volunteer organizing, outreach, or community organizing experience.

° Experience with Final Cut Pro, Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects, and Compix Gen CG.

° Experience with public, education, and government media organizations.

° Working knowledge of Web 2.0 media interactions and community organizing.

° Experience with marketing, outreach, communications
