October 1966

Gilroy City Council takes action allowing the establishment of a CATV system in Gilroy. Gilroy Cable TV is the first Franchisee.

 
   
 

December 1971

Gilroy Ordinance no. 759 is passed, amending the Chapter 24A of the City Code dealing with Community Antenna Television Systems.
 
 

April 1984

Falcon Cable TV of Northern California applies for a Franchise under Article III, Chapter 24, Gilroy City Code (Community Antenna television System).
 
 

December 1994

Memorandum of Understanding between the cities of Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister, San Juan Bautista and County of Santa Clara detailing the parties willingness to work together to conduct a joint CATV refranchising effort.
 
 

December 1994

The Buske Group is contracted by the cities to provide consulting services for CATV franchise renewal with Falcon Cable TV. The term of this agreement is through June, 1996.
 
 

January 1997

Ordinance No. 97-1, detailing the construction, upgrade, operation and repair of cable communication systems within the City of Gilroy is passed by the Gilroy City Council. This document provides a foundation for concepts and language in the Franchise Agreement.
 
 
November 1999
The Transfer Agreement is made, and approved by a resolution of the Gilroy City Council, for cable system control to change from Falcon Communications, L.P. to Charter Communications Holding Company, LLC.
 
January 2000

Cable Franchise Agreement between Charter and the three cities is signed by all parties. Term of the agreement is ten (10) years.

 

February 2000

Contract entered into with the Buske Group to provide consulting services for the cable rebuild project, contract compliance matters and franchise fee review, and undertake CMAP start-up items including:

Convening of the Board of Directors, orientation of the Board of Directors and providing assistance up to the time an Executive Director is hired.
 
 
April 2000

Memorandum of Understanding between the cities of Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista detailing scope of work, project coordination and contract administration for the cable system rebuild.

 
 

January 2001

CMAP Board of Directors is formed.
 
 

August 2001

CMAP Executive Director is hired.
 
 

December 2002

Deadline for completion of Cable system rebuild in the three cities.
 
 

January 2003

CMAP channel launch
